Sprung up from the cold old cobblestones of the oldest part of modern Australia in Hobart, Tasmania…
Guerilla Zingari is an original, six piece outfit, blending a vast cross over of genres and global influences from gypsy to reggae, folk to latin, blues and jazz to pirate sea shanty’s and beyond. All woven together by their rich vocal harmonies to become a luscious, raucous and invigorating aural tapestry. Guerilla Zingari’s vibrant musical textures are shared between heart soaking vocals, warm bellows of an accordion, the deep pulse of a double bass, percussive acoustic guitars, the delicate twang of a charango and a burning violin. Together this talented band of scallywags weave together a witty, poignant, sometimes murderous yet uplifting performance and a breath taking journey of storytelling at it’s most raucous, yet warm-hearted best. Leaving your soul open and your body sore from dancing.
The roots of the GZ tree grew out of the meeting of two singer/song writers;
Nicole McIntyre and Sarah Letters, these two talented ladies were soon joined in their musical endeavours by the wonderfully talented;
Dave Elliston – Piano Accordion, Isaac Gee – Double Bass,
Emily Wolfe – Violin and Hamish Matheison – Drums
